Tracking For 12 Months Without Judicial Check
Apple’s chief executive have criticized surveillance bill proposed by the British government, he warns that “any back door is a back door for everyone”. Meaning if a back door is created it can be used by anyone. Which in return will have “very dire consequences”. Tim Cook insisted, that companies must now be able to encrypt in order to protect people.
“You can just look around and see all the data breaches that are going on. These things are becoming more frequent,” Cook told the Daily Telegraph. “They can not only result in privacy breaches but also security issues. We believe very strongly in end-to-end encryption and no back doors. We don’t think people want us to read their messages. We don’t feel we have the right to read their emails.”
The authorities will be capable to track and record any UK citizen for up to 12 months without any court order. Tim Cook also said that Technology firms had a duty to protect their customers. Now how many companies will obey this, is yet to be seen. But from history, not many companies encrypt their data. Not securely anyway. And when they are pushed by government they have to give the information. Firms now must require a court order first and make customers their priority, after all, it’s their customers how they are surviving on the market.
