Internet Freedom

Tor - How it works

Recent document leaks suggested that French government were considering banning Tor and Free wifi. This was after Paris attack was carried out. According to Prime Mininster Manuel Valls, Ban of Tor Network and free Wifi will not be carried out. Also they have no plans into monitoring it as well.

A ban on Wifi internet access will not be introduced as part of new security measures in response to the Paris attacks in November, Manuel Valls said.

The prime minister denied any knowledge of such police requests, adding: “Internet is a freedom, is an extraordinary means of communication between people, it is a benefit to the economy.” Mr Valls said he understood the security services’ need for tough measures to fight terrorism but stressed that those measures had to be “effective”.

The government is advising police to improve their fight against terrorism because of the recent attacks and all combats “must be effective”.
