The official website, Lenovo.com Hacked
At about 4PM ET, users who visited the websit saw a slideshow of a youth, background sound was set to the song “Breaking Free” from High School Musical. At 4:17 the site seemed to have been reverted to it’s “normal” state, although background music still continued. May be that liked it so much. 5:30 PM the site went back to its normal functional state as before. The source code for the hacked page identified it as:
the new and improved rebranded Lenovo website featuring Ryan King and Rory Andrew Godfrey
Both who are identified as the members of Lizard Squad. Many people were unhappy about the Superfish malware and that’s the retaliation from Lizard Squad.
The attacked hijacked Lenovo’s domains record, which would allow attackers to redirect to a malicious server. So far there are no reason to believe that the attack has comprised Lenovo’s internal network, since the attack target was entirely external.
