New Zealand Resident, who would have thought
Yesterday we mentioned that YTS/YIFY were shutdown suddenly without any response from the YTS group, today we just found out that MPAA did shutdown YTS and are currently trying to make a deal with YTS to reduce legal action against them.
Not only we found the reason, but we also managed to find, that YTS were operating from New Zealand. This has been the biggest copyright infringement take down in New Zealand ever.
We were unable to contact the YTS group and find out what happened and what will be next point of action. We will keep you updated if any other information surfaces.
YTS “existed for the sole purpose of distributing motion pictures on a massive scale online while providing illicit profits to the operator of the website,” said Matthew Cheetham, managing director for the New Zealand Screen Association, the local representatives of the MPAA.
“But sources told us last week that several of the accused are working on an agreement to minimise their harm, possibly in exchange for information.”
“We were very surprised it was being run out of house in Mt Wellington,”
“This coordinated legal action is part of a larger comprehensive approach being taken by the MPAA and its international affiliates to combat content theft,” MPAA boss Chris Dodd says.
“Popcorn Time and YTS are illegal platforms that exist for one clear reason: to distribute stolen copies of the latest motion picture and television shows without compensating the people who worked so hard to make them,” he adds.
